Thinking of doing your undergraduate or Master’s dissertation on the Brixton Pound?

Over the last year, the Brixton Pound has received a lot of attention from students wishing to conduct research on it as part of their undergraduate or Master’s dissertations.  We welcome this interest, and are always pleased to hear about students ideas.  However, please bear in mind that the project is run by volunteers, and that many businesses participating in the scheme have already been approached for interviews many times by students or journalists.

If you have an idea for a research project connected with the Brixton Pound we would therefore urge you to consider:

•    How does your research relate to the work that other students have already done? We can tell you what other students have done, and put you in touch with them, so that you can consider whether your perspective will add anything new.

•    Are there ways in which you could conduct your research that would reduce the amount of time it takes up, for both businesses and the B£ team?  You might consider getting involved in the project, helping out at events or taking on a role within the team, as a way to research it.  This has worked well in the past.

Whatever you decide to do, please contact us to let us know that you are considering researching the project.  There are some things we would simply rather that you did not do, because it has been damaging to the project in the past.

Contacting us may also help you hone down the focus of your research and ensure that it is original.  Please email: info@brixtonpound.org.

Thank you.
