Brixton's proudly independent businesses are, as you'd expect, central to the very idea of a local currency for Brixton. So, perhaps unsurprisingly, there's a healthy serving of benefits for those that choose to participate.
There's the small matter of more business! As the currency grows, so too does the number of people looking for more places to spend their B£s. That could be you.
We'll do a lot of free advertising and promotion on your behalf. It's kinda what we do. You can list your business on our website (including live special offers), show up in our mobile app for B£ users, feature in printed marketing materials - or simply take advantage of our 6k+ twitter followers by tweeting us.
We provide a secure, low cost means of accepting electronic payment, with our pay-by-text platform. If you're not using card payment technology because it's too much, we can help: no kit rental or purchase, and only 1.5% on digital B£ transactions. If you are already hooked up with a card system, we're still cheaper per transaction - and all of that 1.5% goes into the Brixton Fund micro-grants scheme for local projects. Beat that.
It's an opportunity to be part of something special - a growing network of independent businesses in Brixton trading with each other and blazing a trail for stronger local economies nationwide. It's an exciting place to be. B£ is encouraging more localised supply chains: you can use B£e to pay your Lambeth Council business rates, pay your BID levy, advertise in the Brixton Bugle, buy other business supplies, or even part-pay staff wages like we do here at the B£!
Simply put - being a B£ business is one way of building those community connections that make Brixton the place to be, and produce a stronger local economy for all. This might sound sentimental: but in the end, it's true. And it matters.
