Payroll Local is a scheme that allows council staff to take some of their salary directly into B£e. It’s completely optional but those employees who take some of their wages in B£e get an extra 10% that they can either spend themselves on lunch, shopping and services around Brixton or donate to local charities (or a mixture of the two).
If you’re employed by Lambeth Council and would like to know more, please read the Payroll Local frequently asked questions. You can sign up for the scheme here (from Friday 19th October)
There are a range of charities and community groups signed up to take donations in B£e. For example, the picture shows participants from The Healthy Living Club in Stockwell. They run a community day for people with dementia and they have chosen a local caterer who they part pay in B£e.
For more information on some of the other charities that are signed up to accept donations in B£e then click here.
Also, if you know of a charity or community group who you think would like to take part in the scheme please contact info@brixtonpound.org or call Jamey or Susie on 07840 497544.
