On the environmental front, the Brixton Pound group will support local businesses in sourcing more goods and services locally, reducing their carbon footprint.
Brixton is the fourth transition town to have its own currency, following Tones, Lewes and Stroud, which have been very successful and received national media coverage on television and in the broadsheet press. Brixton is the first urban centre in the UK to have its own currency.
