B£ hits Amsterdam

P1000684The B£ continues to inspire in foreign climes.  We’ve had journalists visiting recently from Italy and Canada and last week B£ group member Josh Ryan-Collins was invited to speak about the scheme in that home of the alternative, Amsterdam.  Josh spoke on the fourth day of a major national conference for local government, housing associations and the community sector (pictured).

Amsterdam is, apparently, looking to develop its own local currency and there are already many timebanks across the Netherlands as well as one of the world’s most innovative complementary currency NGOs, the Social Trade Organisation (STROHalm) which works in developing countries.
